3 Day Class - 1p.m. - 4p.m. - April 8th, April 15th , April 22nd

You must have intermediate skills for this class!

Note: During class, we will be making some design enhancements to the pattern. With the pattern, the
width of the zipped case is only the width of the zipper tape. As an enhancement, we have decided to
add a zipper placket to provide a bit more width to accommodate all the tools stored in the case. Also,
the pattern cuts off the extra zipper pull from the external zipper, but we determined it would be better
to keep both zipper pulls in place and put tabs at either end.

Here is a Syllabus of the class

Week 1 (4/8/2021): Pieces, turning tool, parallel quilting tool, hardware, marking tool
 Cut out pre-quilted fabric pieces (Section 1 A on Page 2).
o Page 2 – Cutting
o For the quilting of the case body, you may choose to use foam stabilizer, such as Bosal, or you can use fusible fleece for all. For the quilted pockets, I
prefer the lighter fusible fleece for the batting layer.
 Preparing Components:
o Bias Binding (Section 2A)
 Demonstrate Continuous Binding
o Preparing Zippers (2B) Note: the pattern documents a different concept for the zippers. We will cover the changes in class. Zipper requirements: 40”
double pull zipper for exterior, each of the zippered pockets need to be 15” each. You may choose to use a double pull 30”
zipper cut in half with pull on each half.
o Center Facing (2C)
o Carrying Handle and Handle Stabilizer (2D)
 Start Quilting Fabric pieces
o Please have the fabric quilted and cut out pieces as listed in Section 1C. Stitch around each quilted pieces about 1/8” from edge to secure edges.

Week 2 (4/15/2021): marking tool, zipper, wonder tape, clips, Round corners tool
 Preparing Components:

o Pockets C (Section 2F) - Mesh
o Pocket D (Section 2G) – Vinyl
o Pockets E and F (vinyl) and Pockets G and H (quilted)

How this works:

After you sign up, we will email out a list of zoom log ins and times, and the passwords and videos for the projects. That email will be sent a few days before the event. You will be able to ask question during the class. You can watch the video at any time during the day and after. We will leave the classroom open for 7 days after the event. This is a Hybrid/Virtual Class. What that means is we will have zoom for students who are not coming into the store and at the same time we will have a limited number of students inside the classroom!

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us via phone 321-529-0117 or email kathysquiltstudio [!at]
